Back in June we announced the release of Millton to Grist Mill customers. Millton is our AI agent that helps government teams rapidly discover, build, evaluate, and operationalize custom commercial data solutions. Today we’re enabling the same tooling Millton uses to be embedded inside the AI tools and assistants that organizations already have in place.
Governments around the world are investing in the deployment of AI-driven systems to increase the productivity, accuracy, and agility of their workforce. Grist Mill can now meet them where they are using the Model Context Protocol, or MCP. MCP is an open standard that lets AI models like Claude, Gemini, GPT, and Grok connect to external tools and data sources through a consistent interface, rather than needing custom integration code for each one. Many of the same tools Millton uses internally can be used via Grist Mill’s MCP integration layer.
Now one can discover datasets through plain-language semantic search, drill deep into the results for full details, and instantly surface linked, comparable alternatives, all from their organization’s approved AI platform. And if their organization doesn’t yet have its own MCP-compatible system, they can simply login to the Mill and use our built-in Millton assistant.
We’re working to build commercial data infrastructure that can integrate with our government customers at every layer of their stack, and our MCP server is just the start.
